How to Organize Your Plastic Containers in Our Alachua, FL, Apartments

Do you have dozens of plastic containers cluttering up one of the cabinets in your apartment? Figuring out the best way to organize plastic containers can be an overwhelming task, but it doesn’t have to be. It may require some work on your end to figure out the best organization system, but once you have it in place, you’ll be amazed at how it can make things easier in the kitchen.

Before you even think about how you want to organize your plastic containers, you’ll first want to figure out exactly what you have. Take every container and lid out of your cabinets and place them on your kitchen table. From here, begin to separate the containers into piles: one pile for the containers and the other for the lids. Make sure you have one container for each lid. If you have an extra lid or extra container, add that to a separate pile to be thrown away or recycled. Also, be sure to examine your containers and make sure they are good condition. Anything that is too stained, cracked, or broken should be thrown away.

Once that is done, you’ll get to start the fun part of this project: organization. The easiest way to organize plastic containers is to stack the containers on a shelf in a cabinet, each size in its own place, and then organize the lids separately. Some ways to organize your lids include:

• Using baskets with the lids organized from smallest to largest

• Using a drying rack and “filing” the lids

• Repurposing cereal boxes (just cut off the tops and one side to easily slide the lids inside)

• Using a plastic shoe organizer (place it on the back of your pantry door and put each sized lid in a different compartment)

Hopefully, one of these tips can help you organize your plastic containers if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by the clutter they are creating in your kitchen cabinets.

Our Alachua, Florida, apartments at One 51 Place come equipped with oversized maple and oak kitchen cabinets, and spacious pantries to ensure that organization and kitchen storage is a breeze.
