Staying Hydrated in Our Alachua, Florida, Apartments as Summer Approaches

Whether you’re new to Florida or you’ve lived here all your life, it’s probably no surprise that they call it the Sunshine State. The warm sun in Alachua and all the surrounding communities is just one of the reasons that people flock to this area. However, when you live in such a warm climate, it’s extremely important that you take care of yourself by wearing sunscreen, staying inside during periods of extreme heat, and, most importantly, staying hydrated.

With such a wide selection of fancy drinks for sale, like frappes, smoothies, energy beverages, and diet sodas, it can be easy to forget about water. But drinking plenty of water is extremely important, not only to keep yourself from becoming dehydrated in the sun, but also to keep bodily tissues moist, flush out toxins, maintain a healthy body weight, and carry nutrients to cells.

Below are some creative ways to jazz up your water while living in our Alachua, Florida, apartments so that you can be sure to get all the H2O you need:

  • Add some fruit juice to your water, like cranberry juice or pineapple juice. This will help give your water a little flavor and you can get some additional Vitamin C. Just make sure that the juice you use is 100 percent fruit juice that is low in sugar.
  • Eat plenty of fruit. Fruit is made of about 80 percent water, so a tasty bowl of sliced watermelon or cantaloupe can go a long way in helping you meet your daily water quota.
  • When you’re craving that afternoon cup of coffee or tea, have a hot mug of water with lemon and honey instead.
  • Be sure to drink a glass of water before and after a meal, so that the sodium from the food doesn’t further dehydrate you.
